This is my personal site. It has no cookies, no ads and no analytics, and nothing on it follows you to other sites. Here is everything it handles.
What the site keeps
- Messages you send me. The contact form emails your name, email address and message to me. They are not saved in the site’s database. They live in my inbox until I have dealt with them.
- Demo conversations. The chatbot demo in Caging Chaos saves the conversation under a random session ID, so it can show you the history. It holds whatever you type into it and nothing else. The event-stream demo keeps its messages in memory and drops them when you leave.
- Error reports. If a script on a page fails, your browser sends me the error message, its stack trace, the page address and your browser’s user agent, so I can fix it. They go to the server’s logs and traces.
- Backups. The server takes a snapshot of its database once a day and keeps the last seven.
- Your theme. If you pick light or dark, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. It never reaches the server.
IP addresses
The server uses your IP address for a moment to rate-limit the contact form and the demos. It does not save it.
Services involved
Traffic to the site goes through Cloudflare, which handles IP addresses to deliver and protect the site, and contact emails are sent through Cloudflare’s email service. The site itself runs on a server I operate. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone else.
Children
The site is not written for children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect anything from them.
